Microsoft has put in a £22.5bn bid for search engine Yahoo.

Microsoft said the planned acquisition would create a more competitive company that would be able to provide better choice and innovation for customers and partners. The software giant hopes the acquisition will help it compete with Google in the online advertising market and deliver video and high-value internet content.

Pirate Bay website

The BBC Reports that four men that run the popular file sharing website "The Pirate Bay" have been charged with copyright offenses. No illegal files are stored on this website directly, however it offers links to the location of downloads such as films, software and music.

The website is said to have between 10 and 15 million users around the world and is supported by online advertising. Police seized computers in May 2006, temporarily shutting down the website. According to the Pirate Bay website, its users are currently downloading close to a million files.
